Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrive Chennai +

Begin your fun filled South India vacation with your arrival at Chennai. Meet our guide who will pick you up from the airport and then transfer you to the hotel. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and rest for a while. You can spend your day at leisure or traverse around the busy local market. Overnight stay at a hotel in Chennai.

DAY 2 Enchanting Chennai Tour +

Today after breakfast, get ready to explore the beautiful city of Chennai. Leave from the hotel and head to Fort St George which is one of the major tourist attractions that should be visited when in Chennai. The beautiful architecture of the fort and the historical importance makes it an amazing spot to understand the history of the city. Then head to St Mary’s Church, Kapeeleshawara Temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. A visit to this temple will lend you a glimpse into the rich Tamil culture. Proceed to San Thome Cathedral and Marina Beach which is one of the best places to relax and enjoy your day. Marina Beach in Tamil Nadu is a urban beauty that will take your breath away. DAY 3 Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram (144 Kms / Approx 04 Hrs 30 Mint. Drive) +

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Kanchipuram which is a 2.5 hour drive from Chennai. On arriving at Kanchipuram, visit some of the well known temples of the city such as Varadharaja Perumal Temple, Ekambareshwrar Temple, Kamakshi Amman Temple where you can spend some time in peace and even understand the importance of the region. If you have time left, head to visit silk weaving factory of Kanchipuram where you can learn about the procedure of making sarees. DAY 4 Mahabalipuram City Tour +

Have your breakfast at the hotel and later proceed for sightseeing tour of Mahabalipuram. The city of Mahabalipuram is well known for its carved temples and rock cut caves making it a one stop destination for every kind of traveler. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site attracting tourists from all walks of life. DAY 5 Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry (96 Kms 02 Hrs. Drive) +

Today you will be driving to Pondicherry which is a 2hour drive from Mahabalipuram. Have your breakfast and leave for Pondicherry. On arrival check into the hotel and rest for a while. After freshening up, visit some of the famous attractions such as Auroville town which is a universal township where people from all over the world come and live together in peace. Proceed to Sri Aurobindo Ashram that was built in the year 1926 and was set with the sole purpose of helping people attain moksha and inner peace. Then head to Manakula Vinayagar Devasthanam Temple, Mahatma Gandhi Statue and French war memorial. By evening you can stroll around the French colonies and understand the importance of the region. Overnight Stay in Pondicherry.

DAY 6 Pondicherry - Chidambaram - Tanjore (196 kms / Approx 05 Hrs 30 Mint. Drive) +

Begin your tour with your departure from Pondicherry. Have your breakfast and head to Tanjore which your next stop on this South India Tour. Enroute visit Thillai Nataraja Temple which is situated in the city of Chidambaram. This beautiful temple is the main shrine of Lord Shiva since ancient times. Later continue your journey to Tanjore. DAY 7 Tanjore - Trichy (59 Kms / Approx 01 Hrs 30 Mint. Drive) +

Today, your day will begin with your delicious breakfast at the hotel. Later proceed to the city tour of Tanjore where you will be visiting Shri Brahadeeswarar temple which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a well known attraction in the city. Then head to Great Living chola Temples and Thanjavur Palace. Later drive to Trichy which is a 2 hour drive from Tanjore. Check into the hotel on arrival and spend the day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Trichy.

DAY 8 Trichy - Madurai (135 Kms / Approx 02 Hrs 30 Mint. Drive) +

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and head to visit Sri RanganathaSwamy Temple, Tiruchirappalli Rockfort which is known to be the historic fortification and a unique temple complex that was built on an ancient rock. Then head to visit Thayumanavar Temple and Ucchi Pillayar Temple which is a 7th century Hindu Temple that is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Later drive to Madurai which is approximately 2.5 hours drive from Trichy. On arrival check in and overnight stay at the hotel in Madurai.

DAY 9 Alluring Madurai Tour +

Start your morning with lip smacking breakfast at your hotel and later proceed for Madurai Tour that covers some of the famous places such as Meenakshi Temple which is known to be one of the best temples of South India. Then head to Tirumalai Nayaka Palace which is an excellent Indo-sarsanic architecture temple that exhibits the true importance of the region. Later proceed to Koodal Azhagar Temple, Alagar Kovil, Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple or Subramanya Temple which is a unique Hindu temple and one of the six abodes of Murugan. Return back by evening for overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 10 Madurai to Rameswaram (173 Kms / Approx 03 Hrs 30 Mint. Drive) +

Today, after breakfast, proceed to Rameshwaram which is a 4 hours drive from the city of Madurai. Rameshwaram is a well known lace where Lord Rama built a bridge across the ocean in order to rescue his wife Sita from Ravana. On arrival at Rameshwaram check into the hotel and rest for a while. Freshen up and visit Ramanathan Temple, Sri Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir and Floating stones, Shri Rameshwaram Temple. Later come back to hotel for overnight stay

DAY 11 Rameswaram - Kanyakumari (309 Kms / Approx 06 Hrs. Drive) +

After breakfast, get ready for a scenic drive from Rameshwaram to Kanyakumari which is your next stop on this tour. Enroute visit the Thiruchendur Murugan Temple and admire the beauty of the place. Later continue your drive to Kanyakumari. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and enjoy the beautiful sunset view of Kanyakumari shore. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 12 Breathtaking Kanyakumari +

Wake up early today at 6.30 and visit Triveni sangam which is a famous beach where you can see the meeting of three seas-Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. Later return back to your hotel and munch in your breakfast. Then proceed to visit Vivekanand Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar Statue which are famous places to visit in Kanyakumari. Spend your evening at Kanyakumari Beach that will take your breath away. Relax and admire the mesmerizing beauty of the beach and return back to the hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 13 Kanyakumari - Kovalam (86 Kms / Approx 03 Hrs. Drive) +

Have your breakfast and leave for Kovalam which is a 2.5 hour drive from Kanyakumari. On arrival check into the hotel and later head to visit some of the famous attractions of the place that includes Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, The Napier Museum that is well known for its unique collection of paintings, musical instruments and sculptures. In the evening, spend some time at the Shakumugham Beach where you can relax and admire the beauty of the place. Return back for your overnight stay at the hotel in Kovalam.

DAY 14 Kovalam to Trivandrum Drop (15 Kms / Approx 01 Hrs. Drive) +

Your mesmerizing tour to South India will come to an end where our driver will pick you from the hotel and drop you at Trivandrum airport. From there board flight for your onward destination.

We booked a trip to Ladakh based on positive reviews on tripadvisor. It was a personal 7 nights 8 days trip. They asked us our preferences and came up with an itinerary and price with 3 or 4 star hotel options. The trip included leh, pangong tso, shyok,nubra valley, turtuk, alchi and travelling through high altitude snowy passes khardungla and changla and kargil (we added kargil). We went late june early july. It was beautiful and flowers were starting to come up, and also snowmelts. A bit scary in shyok as the road in places disappeared and we drove over stones and through water for a few kilometres. We saw marmot, wild donkey and free horses, yak and several birds. The mountains are majestic. The altitude does make you a bit breathless, none of us had any health condition and we felt it. Our local contact in leg provided by traeminent tours advised us on altitude sickness and he emphasised several times on contacting him if we ever felt unfortable beyond the usual symptoms, how much and when to sleep. We followed his instructions carefully. We also took diomax for tge altitude breathlessness the first night which helped but it makes you thirsty and gives you a headache so we stopped taking it after. For our stay in Pangong tso our Leh person Gurmeet told us to take an oxygen cylinder reason being its higher altitude and there are no hospitals. An oxygen cylinder has 3 hours worth of oxygen should you need to drive to a hospital. We considered the Rs 2,500 an insurance and we did feel more breathless at pangong. While we could have managed without oxygen the oxygen did help ease the tightness in our chest (maybe coming from hot humid sea level singapore we took probably longer to adapt). We chose the 3 star option and did not regret it. Most cases the rooms were spacious and had great views. At pangong tso we asked to upgrade to a room with a view for an additional Rs 6.6k per person we were 3, sharing a room so we paid Rs 19.8k we felt was steep but were told taxes are high and dinner was included. Our Rs 51k per person for the trip included an excellent calm careful and informative driver Jimme and a sturdy spacious vehicle, breakfast and in two places dinner. Jimme's playlist is also great so after our trip we asked him for it. We saw beautiful monastries at Alchi, Lamayuru, Diskit, moonland the impressive Indus, Shyok and Suru rivers which we drove along. Jagmohan our tour coordinator was helpful and accommodating of our requests to add Kargil. Over all an excellent trip and we were glad we chose Traeminent.  July, 2026

It's was a pleasant trip. 6 days and 5 nights - 3 couple. Cover kochi, Kollam and alappuzha boat house. The driver was good and helpful.
