Travel Guide to the Sacred Dham Yatra of India-2022

The Char Dham Yatra 2022

Yamunotri Dham

The first landmark is the town of Yamunotri situation in the Uttarkashi district. It is believed to be the seat of Goddess Yamuna and the source of the Great River Yamuna. The Yamunotri Temple is a prime holy shrine dedicated to the Goddess Yamuna. It is located closed to the river and placed at an altitude of 10,979 ft. It cannot be accessed via a motorable road thus you would have to do a 5-km trek from Janki Chatti.

Gangotri Dham

The second landmark is the Gangotri town nestled amidst the Great Himalayan peaks. It is one of the highest situated pilgrimages of the country. It houses the 18th century Gangotri Temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga. It is also the source of River Ganga, the most sacred river of India. Kedarnath Dham

The third landmark is the town of Kedarnath located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The famous Kedarnath Temple here is one of the 12 Jyotirlingams and one of the significant Lord Shiva temples of Garhwal Himalayas. You need to reach the Gauri Kund via a bus or cab followed by a trek to the temple. You can cover the trek on a pony or opt for a helicopter service. Badrinath Dham

The final landmark is Badrinath perched at a staggering altitude of 10,827 ft. This holy town is abode to the 16th century Shree Badrinath Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Opening Dates

The Char Dham Yatra started on 03rd May 2022 while the closing date of the yatra is 26th November 2022 so book your trip accordingly. By Train: The nearest railway heads are Dehradun railway station and Rishikesh railway station. You can opt for a public transport for forward journey.
