Hemis Festival is a two-day unique cultural fiesta which is also signifies the victory of good over evil. It happens once in every twelve years wherein the Buddhist monks dressed in traditional dresses and wear colourful marks while performing folk dances. This mask dance called the ‘Chham’ dance is one of the highlights of this festivals that signifies the victory of good over evil. This gala event is also celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Padmasambhava. It is hosted in the courtyard of Hemis Monastery in Ladakh surrounded by captivating views of Ladakh valley.
